Gaming tonight was fun. Tried a game called Thunderstone. It is a deck building game, somewhat similar to Dominion. The difference is you are putting together an adventuring party to slay monsters. I did very well, winning with thirty points.
Also, I played a game called Encore, a music game in which you try to remember a line from a song that uses a particular word. I am not that good at this game. My music knowledge (for remembering lines) mostly consists of Weird Al, Jonathan Coulton, They Might be Giants (mostly the Flood album), Disney movies, Buffy and Dr. Horrible ... and songs from Tis No Deceit if that counts. I am not sure this makes for a good selection to remember from.
It was fun and I'd probably play again, but I do prefer a game where I feel like I have a better chance to be part of it. I also apparently have a bit of a stagefright thing when it comes to singing. I wasn't sure if I did, but I seem to. When I tried to sing, I mostly just trailed off. I should probably try playing again to overcome that, but there's probably a better way to do that than to be the only one singing in a room full of people staring at you.
Overall, Apples to Apples is my prefered social game out of ones I have played. I have fun with that game every time I play, and now want to play again having put the thought into my head.
Extra random note: Liz Lemon makes a great muppet.
