Okay, I'm not having much luck with finding a program online that can convert a cwk file into something I can print. These files were originally done in Appleworks for Windows. Yeah, it's weird. But I had a certain fondess for Clarisworks from back when I used to have a Mac. I just liked it.

Now, I have a few files for Story Wars that are stuck in this format, some of the quest challenges and the contigency envelope file. I'd rather not have to recreate them, but I may end up having to do that. Before I do that, I'm going to check to see if anyone can convert this stuff for me. Someone who has Appleworks might be able to do it, though I understand it's a dead program these days.

If anyone can help, please let me know.

I am still tired. I slept for ten hours, but then I had to work till 1 am tonight. So yeah, still tired.

Story Wars still needs a Farnsworth and hopefully a Spock to replace someone with a conflict.

I have a new way to do the Overlords and Minions competition now. Instead of a strategy dueling game that took way too long to do, I'm going to do it as a tag team pokemon battle, with the Overlords standing behind their minions and issuing commands. "Jayne Cobb, use your gun attack!" It'll be weird, but much quicker.

I just received my character for Super Villain Academy. So now I'm going to need to figure out costuming to play a cat. Anyone have any suggestions and/or cat costuming they might lend me?

...and push you in."

I have good news to report. I had backed up most of my larp files on a usb drive. I had thought the drive lost, but I found it today before work. Almost all my larp files are now back, except for the game Cliffhanger. I apparently didn't back that one up. It was a one hour game for about twelve people, set right after the cliffhanger ending of a tv show, during the one hour premiere of the next season. I always planned to do a sequel, appropriately called Cliffhanger II, the Sequel. I intended to set it after the next season of the "show."

What I need next is to get me a program that can open my old files. I don't have the right one on the new computer.

In other good news, I know who I am paired with for Leash. We're discussing costuming. We're both going to mostly do all black. She tells me she's going to color part of her hair to match whatever vest color I choose. We should look cool. But then we have to because we are the best. Or rather, whatever look we choose is cool simply because *we* are wearing it.

There was a drop in Masquerade, so I shall be playing. I have been sent character and rules. I have been told the time of the game. What I do not yet know is where to show up. MIT is large, so I shall hopefully find out what building the game is in before I'm supposed to be there.

The game is about voodoo and Mardi Gras. I really wish I had a top hat now.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

I was checking out the Intercon J site, to see if they had put any of the Thursday thing stuff up yet or whether my players for Story Wars had changed at all. While there, I noticed that my first pick game for Saturday morning had a new opening. It was for a male player.

I have swicted out of Intercon Jazz and am now playing in Super Villain Academy. I have my first pick morning game. Along with Leash, I now have two first choice games for the weekend.

Awesome!

This is doubly cool, because I can only be enhanced by further training in my villainous ways. ;)

I've been looking at vests online. I like vests. What I'm currently trying to figure out is what kind of vest I want for my Serendipity character, Mordecai Liang. I've looked at some vests that are not at all what I want for the character, but that I happen to like. There's this gold one I want to get now. It would totally not fit for a Firefly universe character living on the fringe, but I could probably find a use for it sometime. There are silver and purple ones that look cool as well, but which would not fit the character.

Well, maybe silver could would. It wouldn't be too ostentatious, I think. Overall, it should be something that would fit for someone who does private investigator work on the fringe, with kind of a western gentleman look. Gold would absolutely not work, because people would likely assume he is rich and should be mugged. Silver might have the same effect, but would be less impact-full in that regard.

Otherwise, I'm wondering if I can find something with a Chinese motif to it. That would be kind of cool. However, I am wondering what site might be trustworthy to buy from for something like that.

Many of you have heard about a larp called Serendipity Station. It's a campain larp set in the Firefly universe, that will be running in the future.

Anyway, I shall be playing a character called Mordecai Liang, a private investigator working out of the station the larp is set on. This is the month we're working out background details and stuff for those of us who are playing what called "crew" characters.

I currently have a 2-3 year span on time in my character's background where I have him pegged as "wandering aimlessly" until he settles on the station. Mordecai is more of a thinking investigator than a thug/hard boiled investigator. Even so, he is the kind of person you would hire when the law can't quite do what you need it to, possibly because the Alliance just doesn't want to spend the resources on what they consider a small problem. He's the person you hire to bring justice to someone what done you wrong, or to recover that thing what was stolen from you. Or maybe you're on the shady side of the law yourself and you can't quite go to the law for help when you need it.

The point is I am looking to fill his aimless period with cases of things he has done or solved. I find December to be a creative low month for me. Work sucks the creativity out of me, leaving me with little spurts here and there, but not the geyser I am used to.

So, I come to you, readers, to ask something. If you were someone living in the Firefly universe and had a problem that you needed someone like Mordecai to solve, who are you and what would that problem be? I want to create anecdotes of things he has done, but I am looking for jumping off points.

Comments on this will be screened, so that everyone won't already know what I'm going to talk about when I bring up an old case. You may know something about a case you suggested, but this way you won't know all my anecdotes, should you happen to play the game. I am mostly assuming this is all for flavor, but you never know what the GMs might decide would fit in good with a plot they already have going.

As a random aside, I'm still debating whether or not Mordecai is his first name, or Liang is. I'm leaning towards Liang actually being his first name, but that no one gets it right and just calls him Mordecai.

As a random message of the day, this one from my brother, "Noodles are made from cats." I haven't a clue as to what the hell he is thinking. Maybe someone else can tell me. Even he doesn't know.

Edit - I think it might mean cats actually make the noodles, in a little shop somewhere.

Otherwise, I am making email progress today on various things I've been meaning to send emails on, such as a variety of emails to other crew members for Serendipity, to figure some crap out. Must get more of those out, plus figure out what my character has done for the past three years. Mostly, I think he's been roaming space, solving problems vaguely as a lawman for hire, doing whatever work he could get. But I want to come up with some more details than that, some actual cases and jobs to talk about as anecdotes in game.

Serendipity Station has a crew now. I am pleased to be part of it. I am also pleased that [livejournal.com profile] gower and I shall be playing in the same game together. We run games together all the time, but very rarely are players at the same time.

Now begins the time to start figuring out how my character knows various others on the station. Since I am playing the local PI, I think I shall need to talk to [livejournal.com profile] shadowravyn as the local security to find out how well we get along with each other. There are numerous others to talk to as well, but that one seems key.

Otherwise, I am now part of Google Wave, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elenuial, so I guess I'll start figuring out what that is all about. I also apparently have some invites I can dole out. If anyone has some advice about Google Wave and what one does with it, I will take some. It seems interesting, what little I've looked at so far.

What I have tried so far was to upload the photo I used for Facebook to use as an icon and Google Wave couldn't quite handle it. It would only display it sideways, so I used a photo of Syler instead.

That does remind me. If anyone is bringing a camera to the next Strange Boston game, I'd love to get a picture of myself dressed as Sebastian, one with claws and one without. I like the look and think I'd like to use it for my icon instead.

Today has been a fairly pleasant day off. My brother and I have started playing Borderlands, a co-op shooter/rpg set in a wasteland. So far, I'm enjoying it. I'm playing the hunter class, so I'm focusing on sniper rifles, upgrading the skills that give me more damage and less rifle sway after shots.
